Tips and limits
- Convert a copy for editing and keep the original JPG for sharing: the PNG is much heavier.
- A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG will be fully opaque. To cut out a subject, use the background remover.
- Very large photos make very large PNGs. Resize first if you hit a size limit.
JPG to PNG
Sometimes a form, a design app or a print service wants PNG instead of JPG. This page converts your JPG photos to PNG with the output already set, in one batch if you like. PNG is lossless, so saving as PNG does not lower the quality any further and is handy as an editing format that you can re-save without more damage.
Be realistic about two things. First, converting cannot bring back detail that JPG compression already discarded, so the picture will look the same as before. Second, the file will grow, often to three to five times the size, because PNG stores every pixel exactly. If size matters more than anything, stay with JPG, or try JPG to WebP for a smaller file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert JPG to PNG?
Add your JPG photos, make sure PNG is selected and press convert. Each photo is saved as a PNG file you can download.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG keeps what the JPG already has without losing more, but it cannot restore detail that was removed earlier.
How do I convert an image to JPG, PNG or WebP?
Add the image, choose the output format, set the quality if it applies, and press “Convert images”. Then download the result.
What happens to transparent areas when I save as JPG?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose, white by default.
Which format is best for photos?
JPG is the most compatible, and WebP is smaller at similar quality when the destination supports it.
