Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro technique?

You work in short, focused sessions, usually 25 minutes, separated by 5-minute breaks. After four sessions you take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.

Can I change the times?

Yes. Set the focus, short break and long break lengths, and how many focus sessions come before a long break.

Can the next session start by itself?

Yes. Turn on “Start the next session automatically” if you want a continuous flow.

Are my sessions saved?

Your settings and today’s count are kept in your browser on this device only.

Does it work in the background?

Yes. The timer uses your device clock, so it is accurate in a background tab, and the time is shown in the tab title.

Study and work with the Pomodoro technique

The Pomodoro technique helps you start and keep going on tasks you would rather postpone. You pick one task, work on it with full attention for a set time, and then rest on purpose. Short sessions feel easy to begin, and the regular breaks protect your focus over a whole day. Students use it to study for exams, and many people use it for writing, coding and housework.

This timer follows the classic pattern of 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute short break and a 15-minute long break after four sessions, but every length is adjustable. A different sound marks the end of focus and the end of a break, the tab title shows the time left, and a counter tracks your sessions today. It is free, works on phones and computers, and keeps accurate time even when the tab is hidden.

There is nothing to configure unless you want to. Press Start and you are working. If a session feels too short or too long, change it once and the page remembers it next time. Combine it with a typing test warm-up or a quiet playlist for a smooth study routine.
