Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the stopwatch?

It compares the start time with your device clock on every update, so it does not drift, even when the tab is in the background. The display shows hundredths of a second.

Does it keep running if I close the tab?

If you reload or reopen the page, a running stopwatch carries on and shows the real elapsed time. Laps are saved in your browser only.

What is the difference between lap time and total time?

The lap time is how long that lap took. The total time is the time since you started.

Can I export my laps?

Yes. Copy them as text or download a CSV file that opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets.

Is there a fullscreen mode?

Yes. Press F or the fullscreen button to show large digits, for example on a projector at a sports event.

A stopwatch for sport, study and science

A stopwatch is the right tool when you want to know how long something took rather than count down to a deadline. Use it for running laps, swimming sets, speeches, experiments, games or any task you want to measure. The digits are large and clear, and the time is shown to the hundredth of a second.

Press Lap at any moment to store a split time without stopping the clock. The page lists every lap with its lap time and the running total, and highlights the fastest in green and the slowest in red once you have two or more. You can copy the list or save it as a CSV file. Like our timer, it never drifts because it measures against the system clock, and it resumes correctly after a reload. No account, no installation, and nothing leaves your device.

The stopwatch works on every device and in every language. Teachers use it for timed activities, athletes for intervals, and developers to measure how long a task takes. Because nothing is installed, you can open it in a second whenever you need to time something.
