Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (or HEIF) is the format iPhones use for photos. It makes small files but many apps, websites and Windows computers cannot open it.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. They are converted inside your browser and never leave your device.
Is the location removed from my photos?
Yes, by default. Location (GPS) and camera details are removed for privacy. You can choose to keep them for JPG output.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like. They are converted one after another so your phone does not run out of memory, and you can download them as a ZIP.
What if my iPhone already gives me JPG?
That is fine. If a file is already a JPG or PNG, it is simply converted to the format you choose.
Make iPhone photos work everywhere
iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space, but that format does not open on many computers, in older apps or on some websites and forms. Converting to JPG makes a photo open almost anywhere, while PNG and WebP are also available.
This converter handles one photo or a whole album. Choose the quality you want, and the correct orientation is applied automatically. For privacy, the location and camera details stored in a photo are removed by default; you can keep them if you need them. If a file contains several images, such as a burst, you can export all of them instead of only the main one.
Everything happens in your browser. The small decoder is downloaded once the first time you add a HEIC file, and your photos are never uploaded. Need smaller files afterwards? Compress or crop them with our other image tools, or combine them into a PDF.
