Common uses

  • Match a brand to a photo

Pull the colors from a product photo or a logo and reuse them across a page or a post.

  • Find the exact color of something

Pick a single pixel to get the HEX of a button, a background or a fabric in a picture.

  • Interior and fashion ideas

Extract the palette of a room or an outfit photo to plan matching colors.

  • Presentations

Take colors from a slide’s hero image so the text and shapes match it.

Tips and limits

  • Photos with large flat areas give clean palettes. Busy photos give more mixed, muted colors.
  • The percentage is the share of opaque pixels closest to each color, after merging similar shades.
  • JPG compression adds small color noise, so a picked pixel can differ slightly from the “true” color. Click a few nearby points and compare.
  • iPhone HEIC photos are converted automatically before analysis.

Find the colors in any picture

A photo, a logo or a screenshot already contains a ready-made palette. Add the image and the tool finds its dominant colors with a median-cut search on a reduced copy, shows each one with its share of the picture, and lets you choose how many to find, from 5 to 12. Click a swatch to copy its HEX. For one exact color, click or tap anywhere on the image: a magnifier shows the pixels around the pointer, and each pick is added to a list you can copy from.

Export the extracted colors as CSS variables, a Tailwind config or JSON, or open them straight in the color palette generator to lock, reorder and extend them. Use the color converter to get RGB, HSL or OKLCH values, or to check text contrast on one of the colors. If the picture is large, shrink it first with the image compressor to make it faster to work with. For turning colors into a working scheme, see our guide on choosing website colors.
