Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
Every 5 correct characters count as one word, divided by the minutes used. The same rule is used for Arabic and English. Raw WPM counts all characters typed, including mistakes.
How is accuracy measured?
It is the share of your keystrokes that were correct, including mistakes you corrected later, so it reflects how cleanly you type.
Does it work for Arabic typing?
Yes. The text runs right to left, diacritics (tashkeel) and tatweel are ignored when comparing, and Arabic and English punctuation and digits are treated as equal.
Can I use my phone?
Yes. Tap the text to open the keyboard. Suggestions and input methods are supported, and the unfinished word is not marked wrong until you finish it.
Are my results saved?
Your personal best for each language and duration is saved in your browser only.
Where do the texts come from?
They are original practice paragraphs written for this site about everyday topics.
Know your typing speed and improve it
Typing quickly and accurately saves time at school and at work, and a short test shows where you stand. Pick Arabic or English, choose a duration from 15 seconds to two minutes, and type the text that appears. The timer starts only when you press your first key, so you can get ready without pressure.
When the time is up you see your words per minute, your accuracy, the number of errors and a small chart of your speed second by second. A personal best is kept for each language and duration, so you can see progress from day to day. Arabic is handled carefully: the text is right to left, diacritics are ignored, and phone keyboards work. You can also download a result card to share with friends. All the practice texts are original, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Practise a few minutes every day and you will usually see your speed rise within weeks. Focus on accuracy first, because corrections cost more time than a slightly slower pace, and speed follows naturally once your fingers know where the keys are.
